FAST: Stick to Values
FASTStick to values(= bei Werten bleiben)
When pressure or guilt pulls you away from your own values.
Hold on to your own values in contact so that the search for recognition or the pressure of conflict does not lead to an inner loss of self.
When does this fit?
When in contact, commitment to values becomes more important than short-term relief, approval or conflict avoidance.
Priority in the path
This node becomes especially important when set boundaries describes the actual situation.
What this is about
Stick to Values is the third FAST skill: maintaining one's own moral code and personal values even under pressure to abandon them for approval, liking, or to avoid conflict. When what others want conflicts with what one believes is right, the temptation is to give in — especially when the relationship matters. But consistently compromising values to please others produces a corrosion of self-respect that is hard to reverse, and often leads to a quiet deterioration of the relationship itself.
Sticking to values is not rigidity about everything — it requires knowing which things actually matter, and holding those without selling them for short-term approval.
