Build Mastery and Cope Ahead
When stress preparation and self-efficacy building have to be thought of together.
Building self-efficacy and targeted preparation for stress come together so that stabilization is effective not only in retrospect but also in anticipation.
When does this fit?
When not only preparing for a single challenge, but also building a basic feeling of manageability and ability to cope with it.
Priority in the path

What this is about
Build Mastery and Cope Ahead are two ABC skills taught together in the same session. Build Mastery addresses emotional vulnerability through the sense of competence: doing one thing each day that creates a genuine experience of accomplishment, calibrated to be challenging but achievable. Cope Ahead addresses vulnerability through preparation: mentally rehearsing effective coping with difficult situations before they occur, so that the skilled response is more automatic when needed.
Together they complement each other — Build Mastery creates the general sense of self-efficacy that makes coping feel possible, while Cope Ahead ensures that specific anticipated challenges have been prepared for in advance.

When stabilization requires not only reassurance, but also noticeable competence, success in action and inner uprightness.C – Cope ahead: Vorausschauend bewältigen

When choose this concept instead?
Start here when resilience and preparation for upcoming situations are to be built.
- strengthens long-term resilience and anticipatory preparation
- fits foreseeable stress, long-term emotion regulation, or prevention
