What this is about

This daily tracking worksheet is designed to create moment-to-moment awareness of which ABC skills were used and how they contributed to the emotional tone of the day. The critical practice is completing it in the evening while the day is still accessible — not the following morning. The most useful insight it provides is noticing the lag between investing in mastery or positive events and feeling their effects: resilience from ABC skills accumulates over days and weeks, not hours.

Step by step

Work through the steps at your own pace. For written exercises, you can use paper or a notebook.

  1. The evening before or in the morning, plan a pleasant activity, a mastery task and a Cope Ahead rehearsal.
  2. Assign suitable times of day to them.
  3. During the day or in the evening, record what you actually did.
  4. Compare emotional distress at the start and end of the day, each from 0 to 100.
  5. Use the review to adjust the next day’s plan realistically.
