When excess high voltage must first be reduced through intensive exercise.

Reduce excess activation through short, intensive exercise so that the system can then collect and calm down better.

When does this fit?

When high tension not only calms you down, it should first be physically reduced so that other skills can take action.

Priority in the path

This node sits close to acute crisis and should be read more as an early step than as later deepening.

What this is about

Intense aerobic exercise of any kind for 20–30 minutes can measurably reduce acute negative mood, rumination, and emotional overwhelm. The reason lies in the physiology of emotion: emotions organize the body for action — anger for attack or defense, fear for flight. When this activation energy is not discharged, the body remains in an alarm state. Intense movement redirects that mobilized energy and re-regulates the body toward a less emotionally reactive state.

Research indicates that reaching 70% of maximum heart rate significantly reduces state anxiety. The skill is particularly useful when agitated, angry, caught in rumination, or when willingness and mood need lifting in the morning. Even brief, spontaneous exercise has measurable effect.
