STOP: Proceed Mindfully
STOPProceed mindfully(= Achtsam weitermachen)
If you want to continue acting consciously and not reflexively after the interruption.
After interrupting and observing, continue consciously so that the next reaction is not controlled by the old autopilot again.
When does this fit?
When, after stopping and distancing yourself, it is no longer necessary to simply inhibit yourself, but to continue to act carefully.
Priority in the path
This node sits close to acute crisis and should be read more as an early step than as later deepening.
What this is about
Proceeding mindfully is the final step of the STOP skill — the moment of returning to the situation with information gathered and arousal reduced. It means asking: What do I actually want from this situation? What are my goals? What choice will make things better or worse? Rather than acting on the first impulse or doing nothing out of paralysis, proceeding mindfully means consulting Wise Mind to identify the most effective response available.
This step is what transforms crisis survival into purposeful action: the pause created by the earlier steps is only useful if it leads somewhere. Proceeding mindfully does not require having the perfect answer — it means moving from reaction to considered choice, even under difficult conditions.
